Embodied Fat: Fluidity, Support, and Presence

|
We all have fat in our bodies, but how often do we sense it as a living tissue? What does it feel like to experience fat as a semi-fluid tissue, bringing strength and liquidity to your movement and a sense of depth and presence? In this experiential exploration, Bonnie invites you to discover the qualities of embodied fat through guided movement and somatic inquiry. Rather than approaching fat as something to control, change, or hold in place, we will explore what becomes possible when we sense and embody its dynamic, fluid nature. As a global tissue of presence, fat shapes and fills the spaces around and between other structures throughout the body. Its semi-fluid quality offers a unique experience of weight, support, and movement, inviting a sense of groundedness, quietude, and depth of being. We will explore the softly nurturing, joyfully free, and empowering strength inherent in the encompassing nature of embodied fat. Join Bonnie as she continues to share her experience and discoveries through the Body-Mind Centering® approach to embodiment practice, inviting you to experience fat from within and discover how its fluidity can influence your movement, your sense of support, and your presence. This class is for anyone exploring a discipline involving movement, touch, and/or consciousness — including movement professionals, dancers, bodyworkers, yoga practitioners, occupational and physical therapists, body psychotherapists, educators, and those interested in embodiment as a personal practice. There are no prerequisites. Some experience with movement practices, somatic approaches, or psychophysical disciplines is recommended. Experience with the Body-Mind Centering® approach can be helpful, but is not necessary. Registration Includes:
